East Coast Road Widening - Award winner!
An innovative procurement approach adopted by North Shore City Council for the East Coast Road Widening project was not only able to offset multiple risks and uncertainties but also led to a more collaborative working environment.
The modified Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process was new to Council in mid-2010 but it provided tenderers a number of benefits, including the opportunity to:
- Meet with stakeholders and clarify any queries and risks
- Interrogate the existing design to reduce risks and improve project understanding
- Attract the best contractors and engineering resources at early stages
- Develop a core team of top professionals
- Provide visibility across the evolution of the project to ensure a shared vision of success
Resolve Group supported the Council team throughout the successful ECI procurement process and was a member of the Tender Evaluation Team. This project is a finalist at the Roading NZ Excellence Excellence Awards 2011
Construction began in March 2010 and was completed February 2011, 6 months ahead of programme .
